FEDON – Félag doktorsnema og nýdoktora við Háskóla Íslands

Kæru doktorsnemar og nýdoktorar

Aðalfundur FEDON (félags doktorsnema og nýdoktora við Háskóla Íslands) verður haldinn 30. apríl kl. 15:00-16:00 í stofu 210 í Stapa og öll eru velkomin. Á eftir fundarhöldum verður pub quiz í sömu stofu og í kjölfarið geta þau sem vilja hist í Stúdentakjallaranum og haldið áfram fjörinu. 

Fundardagskrá inniheldur kynningu á starfsemi félagsins á síðasta starfsári og fjármálum félagsins en að auki verða opnar umræður varðandi málefni doktorsnema og nýdoktora sem við hvetjum ykkur til þess að taka þátt í. Við minnum á að samkvæmt lögum félagsins eru allir skráðir doktorsnemar og nýdoktorar við Háskóla Íslands meðlimir og þar af leiðandi hvetjum við ykkur öll til þess að mæta á þennan opna fund. 

Á aðalfundinum er einnig mögulegt að bjóða sig fram til stjórnar næsta starfsárs. Þar sem mörg okkar sem sitja í núverandi stjórn erum að klára á næstunni hvetjum við nýja meðlimi eindregið til þess að bjóða sig fram og þá skiptir bakgrunnur, reynsla og deild engu máli. Stjórnin fundar að meðaltali einu sinni í mánuði og ræðir málefni sem tengjast m.a. fjármögnun, samningum við stéttarfélagið, stefnu skólans varðandi rannsóknir og fleira. Við erum jafnframt með fulltrúa í Vísindanefnd, Miðstöð framhaldsnáms og í stjórn stéttarfélagsins (FH – Félags háskólakennara). Ef þú hefur áhuga á því að vera fulltrúi doktorsnema og nýdoktora í stjórn FH, vinsamlegast hafðu samband við okkur fyrir 28. apríl. Auk þess höfum við nýlega hafið áhugavert samstarf við svipuð félög á Norðurlöndunum og í Evrópu svo það verða tækifæri til þess að taka þátt í alþjóðlegri umræðu þar.

Dear PhD students and Postdocs,

We are pleased to announce that the annual meeting of FEDON (Association of PhD Students and Postdocs at the University of Iceland) will be taking place on 30 April at 15:00-16:00 in Stapi 210 and it is open to all. The meeting will be followed by a pub quiz in the same room, with the option of going to the Student Cellar for socializing later. 

The agenda will cover the organization’s activities in the past year, finances, and there will be an open forum for any concerns regarding PhD or Postdoc issues. We would like to remind you that as per our bylaws, FEDON represents any and all PhD students and postdocs registered at the University of Iceland, therefore everyone is welcome to attend the open meeting. 

It is also possible to run for the board. As many of us this year are finishing our PhDs, we strongly encourage new members to join regardless of background, experience or faculty. The board typically meets once a month, and we discuss any relevant and urgent issues and respond to concerns regarding topics like funding, union negotiations, university research policy, and more. We also have representatives who vouch for our position in the University’s Research and Innovation Council and the Graduate School. The representatives for these positions are elected from within the board. We also have a representative on the board of the union (FH – Félag háskólakennara). If you are interested in representing PhD students and postdocs on the board of the union, please let us know before the 28th of April.  We also recently started an interesting collaboration with similar European and Nordic organizations, so there will also be opportunities to partake in discussions there. 

If you are interested in working towards a better future for PhD students and postdocs, and want to contribute to the university environment, please let us know either at the meeting or ahead of the meeting via fedon@hi.is.
